Preimplantation genetic testing for aneuploidy (PGT-A) is a screening technique used in conjunction with in vitro fertilization (IVF) to identify chromosomal abnormalities in embryos before they are implanted in the uterus. PGT-A analyzes the number of chromosomes in the embryo, checking for conditions like Down syndrome, Turner syndrome, or other chromosomal disorders. Healthy embryos with the correct number of chromosomes are selected for transfer, improving the chances of a successful pregnancy and reducing the risk of miscarriage. PGT-A is especially helpful for women with recurrent pregnancy loss.

The latest technology for PGT-A does not involve embryo biopsy, which has a potential risk of embryo damage. This technology is known as non-invasive chromosome check.
