Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common cause of infertility due to irregular ovulation. Treatment options aim to regulate ovulation and improve fertility. First-line treatments include lifestyle changes, such as weight management and exercise, which can help restore ovulatory cycles. Medications like Clomiphene citrate or letrozole are commonly prescribed to induce ovulation. If these are ineffective, gonadotropin injections or in vitro fertilization (IVF) may be recommended. Metformin, a drug used to manage insulin resistance, may also help improve ovulation. In some cases, laparoscopic ovarian drilling (surgery) can be used to stimulate ovulation. Each treatment plan is tailored to individual needs.
